With several club teams now returning to the field of play, Club Doctor, Sam Millar, took time today to praise club volunteers and EK Community Trust staff who have helped to provide a safe and secure environment to allow football to thrive again at K-Park.
The now retired former Consultant Interventional Radiologist, affectionately known at K-Park as "the Doc", is part of the Senior section COVID response group, helping look after the medical welfare from 1st team down, and was fulsome in his praise for the processes and care which have got training and matches back under way.
Full message from Dr Sam Millar:
"There is no question that football's response to the pandemic has seen a significant disruption to day-to-day life in the training paddock and on match days.
Like any other club across the football community, the principal objective will always be to have a winning side.
At the same time, the club are responsible for the safety of players, coaches, support staff and employees (and, hopefully, in due course our fans).
Organising a COVID-secure environment is an enormous challenge to any organisation and so it has been at K-Park.
We continue to learn and adapt to our own circumstances and huge credit is due to the Community Trust staff in providing a safe environment.
I would also like to single out our small group of club volunteers who have operated in support of our stadium team (you know who you are!).
Without your input our own jobs would be that much harder."
