East Kilbride FC Reserves shared the spoils with Ayr Utd in a hard-fought draw at K-Park on Monday night, as the EK youngsters returned to competitive action after a 3-week break.
Kilby were without Lewis Sanderson and Dom McLaughlin, who were again on first team duty, and it was the full-time SPFL Championship side who led at half-time after Gabe Skeoch slammed home a rebound for the visitors, following a fine save from Kean in the Kilby goal.
EK deservedly levelled on the hour, when skipper Roan Fitzpatrick ran onto an excellent Dylan Henry knock-down, and the midfielder's shot spun into the net to square the match.
Both sides showed great endeavour and ambition to win a game that was played in difficult wet and blustery conditions, but neither could find a winner, with Scullion, Henry and McAvoy all going close for the home side in the closing stages.
Full time arrived with a share of the spoils, and EK continue their SPFL League campaign next Monday 16th March, when League-leaders Livingston visit K-Park.
Kick-off is 7.45pm and entry is free for spectators.
