East Kilbride Reserves kept up their impressive SPFL Reserve League 2 record with a 2-1 win over Airdrie Reserves at K-Park on Monday night.
Goals from Cameron Clark and Dylan Henry maintained EK's 100% home record in the league and moves them up to third position.
A close opening period saw little in the way of chances, but Kilby took the lead on 29 minutes when defender Clarke smashed home a low shot from 18-yards after Airdrie failed to clear a wide free kick.
But the Kilby joy was to be short lived, as the visitors hit back almost immediately, when Pat Pyott turned in the box before despatching a low shot passed Lewis Sanderson in the EK goal to make it 1-1.
Airdire then enjoyed their best spell in the match, but found themselves trailing at he half-time break courtesy of a Dylan Henry header in the 44th minute. Stephen Docherty gathered the ball wide and found Henry with a pinpoint cross, and Kilby's top Reserve scorer made no mistake to glance home from 10-yards past Gallagher in the Airdrie goal.
The second half saw much action and endeavour from both young sides, but there were to be no more goals and EK took all three points.
Next up for the Reserve's is a home match in the SPFL Reserve Challenge Cup at K-Park on Monday, when they take on Ayr Utd, knowing that a win could keep alive their qualification hopes.
